Interstellar Foundation was founded in 2021 by a group of passionate scientists, artists, educators, and entrepreneurs who shared a common vision of exploring the vastness of space and the wonders of life. We were inspired by the Voyager Golden Record, a phonograph record that contains sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth. The record was launched into space in 1977 aboard the Voyager 1 and 2 spacecrafts, which are now the farthest human-made objects from Earth.
We wanted to create a new version of the Golden Record that reflects the current state of humanity and its achievements. We also want to design new artifacts that could be understood over vast time scales and across different cultures and civilizations. We believe that by sending these messages into space, we are not only expressing our curiosity and creativity, but also our hope and responsibility for the future of life on Earth.
